Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026. Your privacy is important to us. This policy outlines how TypingMeter collects, uses, and safeguards your information.

1. Information We Collect

TypingMeter is designed with privacy in mind. We do not require account registration or collect personal identification details to use our core typing speed test platform.

When you use TypingMeter, we process minimal data strictly required for performance, preferences, and functionality:

  • Local Browser Storage: Test scores, WPM metrics, personal bests, theme settings, caret preferences, and history are stored locally on your device via localStorage. This data never leaves your browser unless cleared by you.
  • Contact Form Submissions: If you reach out to us via our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message content through Web3Forms strictly to respond to your inquiry.

2. Cookies and Third-Party Services

We may partner with third-party advertising networks (such as Google AdSense) and analytics providers to display ads and analyze web traffic.

These third-party vendors use cookies and tracking technologies to serve ads based on prior visits to this website or other web locations:

  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to users based on their visit to TypingMeter and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • Users may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.

3. How We Use Information

Any non-personal or operational data processed by TypingMeter is used solely to:

  • Maintain local preferences (themes, font sizes, caret styles) across your test sessions.
  • Analyze aggregated site performance metrics and optimize page loading times.
  • Respond directly to bug reports, feedback, and user inquiries submitted via our contact page.

4. Data Retention & Control

Because your typing statistics and personal bests are stored in your device's local storage, you retain complete control over your data. You can clear your history at any time using the "Clear" button in the history modal or by wiping site data in your web browser settings.

5. Contact Us

If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy, please contact us via our Contact Page.
